The Sowchea Bay Provincial Recreation Area is located 20 km west of Fort St. James on Sowchea Bay Road, five 5 km west of Paarens Beach Provincial Park. This park is the trailhead for the 5-km Antimony Mine Trail, leading to old antimony mine. You can explore the old buildings and mining sites. But be careful, the structures are old and could collapse! The park has 30 lakefront campsites with picnic tables and firepits. It’s open from May to September, with standard fees charged. The gates open at 7 am, and close at 11 p.m.
