Every spring and fall Merritt residents and visitors get a memorable taste of the exotic.

In spring, they are welcomed by the Punjabi Canadian Roots Club and treated to a delicious East Indian dinner at the Basakhi Mela (harvest) celebration; the fall feast takes place in September and is hosted by the Merritt Rotary Club and Sunrise Rotary. These are wonderful evenings filled with great food, friendships, entertainment and colourful costumes.

Both events are fundraisers for the clubs and always sell out. The dates vary so keep your eye open for further details.;
