Fresh Local Food – BLACKBERRIES
Friday, June 12th, 2009 by GetawayBC.com
Okay, we know the Himalayan blackberry is not an indigenous plant and is, in fact, regarded as an invasive species, but they do produce some of the plumpest and tastiest berries you have ever tried.
These prickly vines are found just about everywhere in Campbell River, particularly along roadside ditches which get plenty of sunshine.
The berries ripen in the late summer.
You might want to put on a jacket and wear long pants to prevent being pricked…repeatedly.;
