So many festivals, so little time

Paddlefest virtually kicks off the festival season in Ladysmith. The event is hosted by Sealegs Kayaking Adventures at Transfer Beach, and it showcases water recreation.

The free family event features a trade show, kayaking workshops, shoreline tours and other activities.

“We’ve always described it as a celebration of paddle sports,” said Bud Bell, Sealegs owner.

Vendors include food sellers, retailers, manufacturers and outfitters. There are also workshops from experienced instructors that cover basic strokes, rolling and how to recover from capsizing, among other topics.
