Brentwood Bay

Picture a soft yellow sunset on a wooded inlet – that’s Brentwood Bay. Southwest of Sidney, off West Saanich Road, is nestled the seaside village of Brentwood Bay. The village is on the protected and secluded waters of the Saanich Inlet, making it an ideal anchorage for all types of vessels and a wonderful place to reside. Along the waterfront is a fascinating path that allows visitors the opportunity to experience the charm of the quaint village.
You can begin at either end, but there is more parking at the south end of the path. To get there, turn west off West Saanich Road to Wallace Drive and follow the road around a series of turns until you reach Moody Crescent. From there, follow the Beach Access signs to the base of Delamere Road.
The path winds north in front of an exclusive condominium complex where you can almost reach out over the water to touch the many moored boats. Continuing along the path, you will reach Angler’s Anchorage
Marina, a friendly ‘fisherman’s hangout’. The Saanich Inlet is famous for the size of salmon caught by the local sport fishermen and the marina was once well known for the small boats called the ‘Brentwood Specials’ they rented out.
The path ends at the Blue’s Bayou Cafe at the bottom of Marchant Road.
Just because your walk is over, does not mean that your exploration of the village is done. The village itself offers a variety of stops, including art galleries, restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, gift shops and book stores. At the bottom of Verdier Avenue you’ll find an eclectic group of businesses, from Moodyville shops to the Brentwood Bay Lodge, where you can rent kayaks, go scuba diving, take an eco-tour, spend some time in the pub or treat yourself to a gourmet dinner. ;
